Squeaky brakes on 2000 Lincoln LS

Just recently purchased my LS. I had the problem with the back windows as others have spoken of. Luckily, the items were warrantied and they are ordering new motors for the windows. My problem is that my brakes squeak alot when pressed to slow down. My husband checked the pads and said that they were okay and didn't need replaced. I didn't run this past my dealership when I took the car in. Has anyone else had the problem? I bought some cleaner at Autozone in case there was dirt or a pebble in there--it seemed to help but just for a very short time. Has anyone else had this problem? and if so do you know what I need to do to get it to stop before I go mad!!

Thanks!
Donna

Assuming there really isn't anything wrong, clean the rotors and pads with 220 sandpaper to clear any glazing and apply some anti-squeal compound while it's torn apart.

Re: Squeaky brakes on 2000 Lincoln LS

I have had my 2000 ls for just under a year. I had squeaky brakes towards the end of the summer. First two mechanics that checked them said they were ok. No less than a month later a third told me that they were almost down to the rotors...316 bucks later no squeaks

Re: Squeaky brakes on 2000 Lincoln LS

i have the same problem, i think my brakepads are cristalized
i dont really know what it means but i read that you have to sand down the disc and then clean it
ofcourse removing the tire first
i've never done that so i couldnt tell if thats true but i just pour some degreaser in every tire in the metallic part ( the brake pads and all that ) i do it when the brakes are hot and it completly removes the noise but after a few days it comes back but not that loud, maybe if you try doing it when the brakes are cold, after a while of your last drive and leave it like that and then pour brakepad cleaner to make sure i would never come back
