VECI Decal Missing

I've just picked up an '88 Topaz (2.3L) and am about to spend the weekend going over her before I get her emmisions tested and certified. However I've just run into a stumbling block: the VECI decal is missing so I have no idea what the correct plg gap should be. Its not listed in the Haynes manual and the local Lincoln/Merc dealer says they don't have that information available. Where can I find out the correct gap?

The VECI on my '86 Tempo says .042" to .046".

These cars have the same engine; I'd say that's what you're looking for.
