To start my 02' type S has 12,000 miles on it. I have already had a valve bent and replaced at 4,000 miles by Acura. I took it back @ 9,000 miles when light turned on again and they said at Acura that I was losing compression on one piston and that warranty wouldnt cover. I got it fixed by a shop (valve probs again). Now light turns on and off usually a couple days apart. I always use premium fuel and make sure the gas cover clicks 3 times. I have taken it to get diagnosed but can't figure it out!! Do I have a lemon, or a heavy ass foot? Anyone with the same kind of problem/solution?

Re: Help, check engine light!!!!
Damn, u have valve problems, sorry to hear that. I'm no expert, but i would have traded in my car if you could and why isn't that coverd by warrenty...sounds like the dealership is actin up. The is no such thing as a heavy foot with a honda engine especially the rsx k20 engine, assuming you're doing the right things and not hitting the revlimit and shit like that. That's just my opinion, see what others have to say.

Re: Help, check engine light!!!!
After the dealership fixed the valve prob the first time, they said that the car would not be warrantied if it happened again. I fixed the prob out of my pocket the second time and i have taken it easy on the car since. Im just dissapointed in the car itself. Im not sure if i should get rid of it, or add a couple of performance mods like cams, valves, springs, etc.

Re: Help, check engine light!!!!
first of all, why the heck won't they fix it the second time....that sounds off. Call acura/honda and confirm that in the warrenty. Second, if u want to upgrade you engine with valves, springs, sleeves, ect. think to yourself, what will you be doing to the car, cause it sounds like ur about to build the engine to withstand 300+hp. Also, the Acura RSX as a vehicle is outstanding, in your case, it just sounds like you got one of the bad ones and the dealership doesn't want to fix it. Oh yeah, and doing that stuff with the engine cost lots of money, so i hope you realized that before you thought of it....???

I think the dealership needs to own up to the problem, if they already fixed it once, they definately should know that it could have other problems that are not your fault. I would talk to the General Manager of the dealership your going to. Usually the mechanics and customer service there aren't going to try and go to far to help you.
