Heavy Duty vs Z71

I have a 2001 Ext Cab 4x4 with heavy duty suspension. When it is going down the road or just sitting there, the nose is quite low and the rear is just the opposite in the other direction. Most Z71 units seem more level front to rear. What is different in suspension components between Heavy Duty and Z71? Is it too costly to change over? Any ideas?

I have a 2000 Z71 and mine sat slightly lower in the front. I took it to an alignment shop and had them tighten my torsion bars and realigning the front end. Ended up raising the front end about 1.5 inches and now the truck looks level. I like it a lot better also, it looks really good. Costed about $75 for the operation which is cheap compared to getting any suspension lifts.

Re: Heavy Duty vs Z71

Simply tightening the torsion bars and lifting the front without installing longer shocks is limiting the travel on the A arms. I did this to a 1990 K1500 and replaced the shocks. Some folks said not to do this but I use my truck for offroad hunting in multiple states and have had no problems for several years.

Re: Heavy Duty vs Z71

Thanks to cptaylor 01 and Carl1952.
I'll go down to the local alignment shop to see what they might be able to do. I was not sure if that is all it would take or if parts were necessary! Thanks Again!
