Question bypassing the passlock II '03 silverado

Hello everyone, I am installing a Designtech remote start in my 2003 Chevrolet duramax P/U. I located the passlock wires, but this truck has three wires. yellow, black, & red w/white stripe. I haven't done a remote start with this sytem. Can anyone help out? I also have to find the glow plug wire & the tach wire yet....... Boy, it was a piece of cake on our grand prix. I am a little lost at the moment on this one.

I will keep trying to figure it out while I wait for someone smarter than me on this...

All of the GM vehicles have 3 wires on the Passlock system. Not sure what you mean??? Use DEI part #555L to interface into this. It self learns the key's signal everytime you start it with the key!!! With DEI stuff, I can go to any injector wire but I do not think you can do that with those Designtech thingys. You should also look into DEI's part #456g to do the security/doorlocks/domelights to mention a few. That is if you already have power locks and OEM alarm. It's a breeze to install it--one wire. That's it. DEI is actually the supplier to GM so they have the inside deal on the vehicles. They are the best!!!

Wait to start is a BLUE wire in instrument cluster or PCM.

not sure what wires I hook up to, to bypass. I already bought the designtech system, But I wonder if Its compatable? I unpluged the passlock plug, & the truck still started.. But now, the passlock light is always on, & doen't turn off. Its pluged back in, but the light stays on.

Yes, the DEI part can be used with other systems. You'll now have to go to the dealer to have the code erased.

I dissconected the battery's & this reset the computer, so now the passlock light is functioning normal again. I have called all around town & nobody has the DEI part that was mentioned. Is there another option? I would like to retian the illuminated entry & seat/mirror/radio memory too if possible.

Thanks, 68ragtop

I got it all together & working. Sure wasn't easy. I got a paslock bypass module & a door lock interface. Only problem was the factory alarm. I had to disarm it by going into the drivers door. The disarm in the lock module would not disarm the system qucik enough, & the alarm would trip.

One thing I am not too happy about is the wait to start feature. Once the engine has run for a while, it no longer needs the glow plugs, so the wait to start tlight does not come on. So, If I want to run it a second time, Or remote start it when the engine is warm, it won't start. the start module waits for the glow plug light to go out, when It never comes on in the first place, so the system just hangs. After an hour or two in the cold, it works again.

Thanks for all the help.

What part did you get for the doorlocks to work? It should do the alarm each and everytime. You should not have to get into the doors to disarm it, that's what the bypass is for. WHat kind of remote start did you use? None of the ones I know malfunction with the wait to start deal like you stated. You might need to diode isolate that wire????
