KensEclipse, do you own the Eclipse in your sig?

If it is, have you ever driven it?

If you have, Check again, are you sure?

metalhedskater - The Mitsubishi Starion is a RWD dsm.

dude why do you got to be a dick!?!? just say that his car is AWD not just RWD!!!

And that to make an eclipse RWD puts too much stress on the T-case that it would be to easy to break somthing, cause instead of your rear wheels and the front wheels getting evenly distributed power converting it to the rear wheels only is gunna put a lot of stress on the T-case, drive shaft and axle!!

chill, RST, i wasn't trying to be a dick... just letting him figure it out for himself, rather than him trying to tell me it's RWD. Besides, it might also be Front Wheel, might not be a GSX.

I will take AWD over RWD any day. Thats why I own a DSM, for the AWD (and 400-500 whp doesnt hurt). But keep in mind that there are several RWD eclipses and talons out there. RWD conversion with a 2 speed Powergline tranny can take a lot of power, and is running in the 7s (buschurs car). There are also plenty of conquest/starions with 4g63 conversions, and Mighty Max pickups with 4g63s, all RWD and most with 2 speed trannies.

I could have sworn that 1gs are rwd... and I have believed this for the longest... hmm this is something new, I own the GS in the pic, yes, but I thought that eclipses were fwd from 95+.

OK so i did some research online and found out that yes, they are FWD, sorry that Im so late on this, I could have sworn they were RWDs...

This is the website I found this info on http://members.shaw.ca/costall/1000Q...keandmodel.htm .

Sorry about the confusion, I didnt mean to piss anyone off.

If you convert to RWD don't you need a new suspension system in the rear???

Yes, you do. Most of the guys go with strange axles, some type of aftermarket narrowed diff housing/ford 9" rear, and drag racing coilovers like the strange setup or similar. Also, the car has to be back-halved to make it all work.

How do you convert your DSm to RWD? How much would that cost?

You have to get a race chassis shop to backhalve the car, plus all the components and mounting of the rear suspension, PLUS you have to mount the motor longitudinally, or front to back in the engine bay, like RWD cars, PLUS you need a tranny that will work in this configuration, 90% of the time thats a built up powerglide and bellhousing adapter. I can see easily spending 10 grand on this. The person to ask though would be bushur or plebani, theyve both done it...
