Exclamation NISSAN SILVIA vs SKYLINE vs Toyota Levin GT APEX

Hey all, I am buying a car... MY VERY FIRST CAR!!!
And I want to be able to make the right decision at choosing my first car, that i will be driving it for at least 2 years.

I am only a highschool student and do not have loads of money to afford car that I adore.
I will be buying a car within 2 weeks and I do not have much time to decide what car to buy.

I have study inside out of Nissan Skyline and Silvia but I was not able to get any information of 1993 Toyota Levin GT Apex.
If you know any websites that has Nissan Skyline,Silvia or Toyota Levin GT APEX, PLZ let me know or copy and paste the information for me.
Information about the performance and reliability of the engine is what i really know. Please fill me in with the knowledge i need to make a good decision.

I am not 100% but I think Toyota Levin GT Apex is also known as Tureno or Sprinter.

I have three choices of cars and they are...:
(These cars are being sold in New Zealand, where I am)

#1990 Nissan Skyline Coupe# (NOT SURE IF GTS,GTE,GT but think it is GTS) 115,000KM

***Engine***= RB20-DE 1998cc EFI DOHC 24-valve 6 cyl 116kW@6400rpm 184Nm@5200rpm -RWD 5spd
-4spd auto 1989-92 Skyline & Laurel

for NZ$5000

#1992 Nissan Silvia Coupe# 141,611 KMS

***Engine***= SR20-DE 1998cc EFI DOHC 16-valve 4cyl 119kW@6400rpm
(108kW FWD) 188Nm@4800rpm
(178Nm FWD) -RWD 5-speed
- 4 sp auto
-FWD 5-speed RWD 1993-94 Silvia Q's, FWD Presea

for $5000

# 1993 Toyota Levin GT Apex # 104,000Km.

NO INFORMATION... PLZ FILL ME IN WITH KNOWLEDGE!

for $5000

These cars are my choices of cars, please suggest me what car I should go for and explain why?

Also does the Kms of the car matter? How far the car has travelled or is it still good as long as good engine?

I am going to ride it for at least 2 years and I want to able to do some mods but not too much... because I want to sell it and it could be an old person looking for a car to buy. But what car is the best in ur opinion?

I AM LOOKIN FOR A CAR WITH GOOD PERFORMANCE, WHEN I SELL I WILL BE ABLE TO GET AT LEAST 50-60% OF THE CAR PRICE PURCHASED, RELIABLITY AND STYLE (LOOKS)....

The skyline is probably your best bet...leave it stock if you plan to sell it ever...and make sure to take care of it...

Why are you looking at these cars anyway? If you only want the car for a few years and want to get your money back then get a beater car that is in alright shape...should cost very little to get and with a little money into it they will run for years...then sell it for about what you paid for it...usually it will make you nearly 100% of your money back if you fixed stuff for cheap...

ok, when you list these prices, do you already have a source to purchase or are they just a shot in the dark?...if not, the cost of importing a Skyline or a Sylvia is extremely high. If you want a Sylvia, just go for the Nissan 200sx. BTW, the "Trueno" is more commonly known as a Toyota Corolla GT-S in the states. With that high of milage, you'd be better off buying something newer with a dealer warranty. Exotic cars should not be your first choice when trying to find a first car, they require a lot of overhead costs and even more maintenance. Just my opinion.

with those choices, I wouldnt buy either one.
All the ones you listed arent turbo models, so unless you get the SR20DET in silvia its usless and no fun. same goes for skyline.
you got to get the turbo ones if you want to be cool, like the rest of the class.

Personally I would get the Skyline. As for you question about the Toyota, the Sprinter came in two models. The Trueno (the engine has a Duel Overhead Cam), and the Levin (the engine has a Single Overhead Cam). Obviously The Trueno is more powerful, and I've heard it has some suspesion upgrades also. For more info on the engine in the Levin check out http://www.users.bigpond.com/vidore/...age_engine.htm . The Silvia is also a very cool car though. All the cars sound very good for there price. Also remember that they are old cars and you will always have to fix them up, even new cars break down. If I were you I would defintely keep some money on the side for repairs and maintance.

hahaha honistly you guys crack me up, guess your excuse is you have never seen much thise cars in the US really... JDM of all types get imported here... alot of the cars here are "JDM" (NZ)

first off, the GT-APEX levin/trueno (a levin has a front grill a trueno dosnt tail lights are diffrent apart from that, same car) the GT-Apex model is a AE101 from 1991-1994 with a silvertop 1600cc 20valve 4age (160hp @ 7400rpm) (the 93/94 facelift ones go harder than the early ones)

if your looking at performance the levin will come out ontop unless you get a turbo model skyline/silvia (i should know iv raced them ) mostly due to weight... if its ya first car and you dont wanna be using shit loads of petrol the 1.6 levin would be your better choice, if you want the exhust and intake noise the silvia. been in nz you will have a shit of a time getting insurance for ether of them.

ahh yea, and if the levin has super-strut find one that dosnt or invest in the silvia... it tends to screw up around 100,000k's and pritty expensive to fix apart from that... strong little car... mine loves 9k rpm
