Post Help on 533i Electrical Problems

After starting my 533i, I turn on the head lights and the motor quits running. What can I do to make this stop?

I also am interested in getting a complete electrical diagram so I can have the computer check list lights work properly.

I would appreciate any and all suggestion. If I did the registration right, you can send me a private message, and post your answer also, incase I am not able to get it, I can come here to read it.

whow you made it turn off

I can only think of one issue that would make the engine shutoff when the headlights are turned on, a bad alternator.

The Motronic is very voltage sensitive, so if the battery voltage went to less than 12 volts.

I have an e24 ETM that is very close except for the fuses.

Here is the index, check it out and just follow the link or type the page number in the title bar html location.

Solution 4 533i Electrical Problem

Thanks KC! When this problem happened again, I decided to start from the root of the system. It turned out that the positive cable to the fuse box had broken wires inside and were arcing out to cause enough of a electrical disturbance to kill the engine when the headlights were turned on. In other words, over load!

I also want to thank you for the electrical manual!

Have great holidays and may all your car problems be small and your dreams of cars be large!
