Ok, I just got a beautiful 93' base model yesterday, so I'm new to the forum and fairly new to anything having to do with cars in general let alone 3000gt's (which have been one of my favorite cars looks wise).

So far I've done some work on the interior and exterior of the car and replaced the bubls etc. Well, my original intention was to buy this car (got it for 4 anda half grand, my pops paid cash) learn all I could about it, and eventually work on it til it was a respectable machine. It is a base model so it's pretty slow, and to make things worst, my girlfriends VW Golf GTI 1.8T is quicker and faster than my car with only 180 hp AND her spoiled sister is going to be getting a WRX soon. Hell no am I going to let her have bragging rights to the fastest car of the three of us.

All I want to know is what are the cheapest and best ways to get max hp and lowest weight on my base 93' 3000GT, enough to compete with a stock WRX (I know it'll be hard as hell) without adding a turbokit, I refuse to spend that kind of money on any one thing for my car, plus I hear fuel economy with any turbokits added suckes even more. All I've done so far with is is remove the spare in the back for less weight and remove the resonator bottle, that's all. Any help please.

you can try doing what this kid did

k&n intake
3sx downpipe
test pipe
custum exhuast
advanced timing chip
regrinded cams
lightwieght crank pulley
adjustable cams gears
short shifter
GC coilovers
KYB GR2
18 Kogin imagines

but a wrx is a very fast car, it is gonna be very very difficult to beat a wrx in a base model 3000gt, your gonna need to take off 2.5 sec off your 1/4mile time.
