I scared myself tonight. On the way home from a resteraunt I've started working recently, A guy in a red coupe pull up behind me. first annoyance- I was doing 75 in a 55...he came up on me at easily about 100 miles an hour. I'm not going to bitch about his speeding, because I was going faster than the limit too, and I'm not a hypocrite. then I realized I could hear HIS system over my own...and I had the windows up and the sunroof closed. this demonstration of teenage stupidity really started to drill through my anger control.
Anyway, he started tailing me...we're talking about 5 feet at 80 miles an hour...that got to me- I'm territorial, HIGHLY territorial. I brake-checked him. I heard his tires chirp and allowed myself a small smile of victory, but I had celebrated to early. the guy got right back in behind me, and started beeping and flashing his brights. Just when I think he's doing his worst, I thought I heard something hit my back windshield. it wasn't a tink, it sounded like a deep THUD; it sounded HEAVY. I don't know what happened, still don't, but I was mad- as illogical as it seems to assume, I thought he had thrown something. that's when I lost it. Instantly, a plan had formulated in my head.
I was going to brake as hard as I could, not just a check, but do 80 to 0 as fast as I could while taking up as much of the road as I could. on either side of this highway is six foot drop straight into dense forest. At our speeds, his little car wouldn't have been able to do much against a 150 year old Oak or Redwood or whatever. assuming the wreck didn't kill him, I was going to get out, snap his neck, and slam his head into his steering wheel. After that, I was going to get out my cell phone, Panic, call the cops, and report that "The car in front of me just swerved to avoid a deer or something and ran off the road!"

for a moment I was completely lost in my rage, I could see myself actually going through with what I had planned. I was beyond reason. in a matter of seconds, I had pulled onto a side road and gotten out of the car for a quick walk and some fresh air. I still want to hurt that little son of a bitch, but even something as minor as planning to take a human life is something I never thought I'd be capable of.

Nice road rage incident. I wouldn't recommend killing someone in that situation, but I have brake checked someone to 70-0km/h. They pulled up with about 3cm to spare. Just as they got out of the car with a face purple with rage, I burned rubber and lost 'em.

i know i would have brake checked hardcore like that...i once did to shut someone up who was backseat driving....

I've road raged before. who hasn't? I was surprised at how much RAGE there was though. I honestly thought I had better control of my emotions than that.

it'll happen to anybody....i thought that i had better control before i punched a gigantic hole in my wall when i was pissed last summer

What I don't understand is why they're trying to go faster than you...turning up the music louder than you, throwing shit at you and honking and beeping a on top of all that. WTF. Dude, do you have any bumperstickers that would piss anyone off??? Like "Your child may be an honor roll student but YOU'RE still an idiot" or something like that?

Sounds like we live close. I had an asshole on I 69 do that same shit to me. Gotta hate it when you can hear theirs over yours at highway speed.

Hmm, Ive had a few incidents, though none like that. I myself am getting one of those high intensity hand-held spotlights so when someone is tailing me (usually happens at night) I'll flash em'. Either that or Ill slow down to the minimum speed and speed up when the try to pass me. I view it as if they wanna fuck with me, then I'll fuck with them.

Brake Testing - be warned that b'stards like me are aware that the front bumper on our cars are designed to withstand impacts of 12 km/h and combined with your bumper that makes about 24 km/h.

If someone attempts to brake test me - then they may find a 1.8 tonne Mondeo doing an impression of Liberace. There's no place for brake testing and the like on the roads - you are playing with lethal weapons and someone deliberately attempting to put me in a situation where me or my passengers could be harmed from an overdose of testosterone should be aware I don't take prisoners. If it's a choice between me or you then it's you who are probably going to end up worse off.
