WHat am i doing wrong??? WHY NEVER ANY REPLIES??

I am trying to program my keyless on my 1997 jimmy. On the current controller that works, the unlock button doesn;t work so I am trying to replace it. I can get it into program mode using a jumper from ground to #8. The car locks, unlocks, and the hatch pops. Then what do I do?
This is what I've tried:
1: hold any button individually for 2 seconds
2: same as one for a longer period of time
3: hold unlock/lock for 2 secs and long time.

I performed these all with the wire still attached and also tried all these after letting go when the truck lock/unlock/pop hatch. I even tried these with the currently(old) working controller and it didn;t even lock/unlock like its supposed to in program mode.

When i try this with the working(old) controller, it won't even lock when its in program mode so I KNOW its in program mode. Then if I pull the wire, the current(old) transmitter will work again.

Keyless entry

The program procedure your using will work on newer trucks (99 and up) but I don't know if it will on a 97. I have a 97 that I'm looking for the program procedure for also so I'll try it. I'm told that you have to jump two wires across the ALDL (scanner plug) connector to get the 97's in program mode but the tec. I talked to couldn't remember which two connections to cross so I'm still looking. If you find out, please share. I have another contact to talk to, if he comes up with the answer, I'll let you know.
