The official China Daily said the defendants, who include hotel managers, employees of a Japanese company and prostitutes, face up to 10 years jail.

The alleged orgy happened in September, when the tourists, most of whom were from a Japanese construction company, were allegedly entertained by up to 500 women in the five-star Zhuhai International Conference Centre Hotel.

what really got the Chinese upset about the whole insident was the fact it was during the anniversary of the Japanese invasion of China, which naturally sparked a lot of anti-japanese sentiment.

The Chinese are real sticklers when it comes to historic dates. Symbolism means a lot. Even unintended symbolism. They look at it as though the Japanese are screwing them again. My father-in-law wasn’t livid over it by any means, but even after being here for twenty years, it perturbed him a bit.
