The dream family project

hey guys... so well, I always talked alot and I did the model building... but here is finally the thing I wanted to do most besides the 1/12 GTR...

but first let me introduce you to my work bench...

think everyone should have a good setup like mine?

so anyways... all my life since i was in sixth grade... I loved the gtr since it went BCNR3(X), meaning running with the new RB26DET working with the ATTESA AWD system... and till this day, they are still my favorite cars... if you gave me a ferrari.. i would turn around and sell it and buy GTR(S), changing three different body styles and everything. Each of these Tamiya models I've build more than four times each over... so you do the math... and the solving...

SO now i decided that i've tried every color... every screw up, and everything that can go wrong with these kits.. its finally time to make the family come together.

from left to right R32, R33, R34

The R32 was just painted tonight and i made the chassis and the interior already all done up for the past month... I sprayed TS-38 which is gunmetal... and then TS-13, clearcoat 5 minutes after the last wet coat. Its my first time taking that approch and damn it looks good.

My favorite one of the family... I took extra time on this one... I believe and im not gonna boast about it.. but I was the first one with the real midnight purple GTR on the forums I started building it since last may... you can look for the build... its somewhere here. This one is special because... tamiya never made this color, I had to actually goto the auto shop to order this color, and it is applied on from my airbrush.. so no rattling can for this one... she is my queen of the group.. she is almost done except the headlight lense and the back transparent piece.

It took me four tries to get this one and by god... Im on a good start... also painted this just tonight side byside with the R32. TS-50 and then clear coat TS-13 right after the last wet coat. She came out real nice... and i gotta hand it down to Tamiya... for a whole two years learning how to can rattle, I've never learn how to use the clear properly, and now, I finally got it. She is still curing though dry... she is shiny as hell with the clearcoat.. same as the R32

These three colors are to me the best selection and choice because... they were the flagship color of each generation... the gungray, midnight purple, and the bayside blue. They represent the family bloodline of the RB26 through out the years and soon, I'll be able to show them in a case to you folks.

Mystry machine... well I donno what to do with this one yet... anyone got any suggestions? IM thinking about doing a Silver GTR just cause... she'll be the stand alone in another display case =D OPEN SUGGESTIONS =D

And I found a Fujimi 95 LM edition GTR also... but I can't find the right blue to it... its the light blue... but Brillian Blue is not good for it... its tooo light. That will be started sooon enough... all these GTRS are gonna make it to the shelves before xmas, so when the uncles and aunts ask me what has college education done for me... I will show them my lastest works =D haha NOT!

Since the 1/12 is sorta done... i still need some more wires to do the battry wires and brake lines... I gotta start on something to entertain myself and to show you some modeling advances so im not slacking off... hehe so well there you go.

Post whatever you like lets talk GTRS!

Now you need to start doing all colours and Japanese Tuning Comapny Bodykits.
If all goes well I'm starting a Millenium Jade R34 soon

Other than the 1/12. I had that dream family collection already.

Hey, try to paint the 2nd R33 in deep marine blue. Nobody had done that.

The R33 color on the box of the fujimi R33 V-spec LM is too dark for R33 LM. TS-44 should be alright.

Re: Re: The dream family project

ok guys, so its been a long road... and im ready for a good update.

first thing... merry xmas to everyone, and I hope everyone had time to work on model projects, eat lots, and have fun. here are my projects so far...

first exhibition

this was actually a base Fujimi 96 LM GTR, painted in TS-44, rather Championship blue, it was really a light blue until I finished sanding and polishing, that it turned out more darker, which is exactly the color I was looking for. With this kit, I used the Fujimi Nismo GTR seats, with the checkered edition Recaro seats, and shift nob. Almost done execpt I have to respray the wing and clear, front foglight lenses, and decals.

second exhibition

To me, prefection on a model never ceases, if you all remember this GTR, it was here since last May I believe, some of you might of seen it, but here it is again, the Tamiya R33 now, sanded and polished to perfection with newly sprayed rims.

Last but not least...

It was a shell and a half before hand, but now everything is done from the interior and chassis, all I need now is the headlight lenses to be put on, and then paint the GTR signs, decal, and of course polish, then the R34 is done as well...

Well that is the update so far on the dream family project. the R32 is still in the works, when I found the LM edition GTR, I sorta stopped working on everything and tended to it.

Just to show some more eye candy... each and everyone of the cars I do comes with a shine like this... I never really showed the difference in it before, but now I found a new way to finish model top coats... and I will share with you guys soon, when I make a new model, I will do a walk through... hope it will be good enough to be in the Modelling FAQ in the near future

Re: The dream family project

that shine is amazing!

You should build a 400R. that would go really well in your collection!
