New tires for '01 Limited

Does anyone have any suggestions for for replacement tires that are smoother and quieter than the original Michelins.

I just replaced the tires on my 2001 Grand Caravan. The original Goodyear tires wore prematurely. I had to pay out of pocket for 4 brand new Cooper tires from Sears. They are great tires with a 130,000km wear warranty. I picked them up installed for just under $500 Canadian. You might also want to try Bridgestones as another option. They are also a quieter tire than the Michelins.

You might look at Michelin Symmetry tires. I put some on a '96 T&C and they were much quieter. I notice Michelin also lists a Harmony tire that sounds, by their ratings, even better. My 2001 T&C will need tires soon, and I'm going to look at those. A friend put Symmetrys on his van and he, too, was very pleased. Quiet and good wear rating.

I would NOT recommend Michelin Symmetry's. In spite of a 75,000 mile warranty, each of my two sets have worn out after 32,000miles or less. Tire wear is even across all 4, so alignment, etc. is not a problem. These tires just don't last. See also the following for more user comments on Symmetry's:

Michelin Sims were terrible for me as well. I have 1998 T&C and wore them out in 35,000. Originals were Michelin MXV's I believe. Just as bad.

I talked to Tire Rack. I am trying Firestone Affinity LH-30. A local guy told me they would be noisy for a bit, but then get better. Great in snow and rain.

So far so good. Got excellent pricing as well.

Throw on a set of Michelin Hydro-Edges, or try a set of Bridgestone Turanza's.

Yeah Goodyear OEM's are generally garbage and you are lucky if you much over 30000 miles out of them . Even Goodyears cheaper brand Kelly are much better than the OEM's . Have also had good luck with BF Goodrich .

We have an 02 T&C and although we haven't had to replace tires, our mechanic stated he found the "Toyo" brand of tires quiet and very reasonably priced. We have the Bridgestone Touraza (or something like that) and they are noisy. When we travel we listen to book tapes and have found it necessity to turn the volume up more because of the tire/road noise. Being a van with less insulation than a sedan doesn't help either.

oK, AFTER 2 MONTHS RESEARCH ON TIRES,I FINALLY DECIDED ON GOODYEAR ASSURANCE "TRIPLETREADS. LET ME TELL YOU THEY ARE THE BEST TIRES I'VE EVER OWNED. I BOUGHT THEM RIGHT BEFORE THE BIG MIDWEST BLIZZARD AND I WENT EVERYWHERE IN MY 2001 GC SPORT.IN THE RAIN THEY ARE AWESOME! VERY LITTLE ROAD NOISE ON DRY PAVEMENT.I OWN A SHOW TRUCK AND ARE GOING TO PUT THEM ON IT TOO.THEY HAVE AN 80,000 MILE WARRANTY. I bought a set of Bridgestone Turanza's last year before summer break. Great ride and wearing like iron so far. I am very please with traction (wet or dry) and seem to be quieter than the OEM.
