I am having trouble with my 1997 GrandAm. It started blowing fuses in the els row, when this happens the ABS, Brake light, and check engine light come on and it won't move from park. I took it to Autozone and had it checked and came up with the following codes; P1655, P0740, P0758, P0753, P1675. They are all electrical problems with the transmission. The only time the check engine light comes on is when the fuse blows. That seems to happen when I cut on the defroster and AC.
The Tech at the Pontiac House said I have a short. If so where do I start to trace it. |

i generally find that short is a faulty ac compressor diode it is located inline in the green wire at the ac compressor connector unplug the connector and pull it up and you will see electrical tape around a small box the size of a quarter open the box and remove the diode then retry and see if the fuse blows if it doesn't you have found your problem. just splice the wire together without the diode and it will work fine the diode is for electrical feedback and leaving it out won't damage anything i have done this many times
