Oil Consumption
My Daughters 99 SL1 Consumed oil at only 20,000 miles.
That car was totaled at 90,000 miles and it still consumed about 1/2 Qt every 3,000 miles. Now we have a 2000 SL1 with 130,000 on it and it consumes about 1/2 qt every 600 miles. I have checked every possible place on the engine to make sure it is not leaking and it is spotless. The plugs do not get fouled either. I know that it is "normal?" for these 4 bangers to consume a certain amount of oil especially an engine with 130k + on it but my questions to this forum is.... Can I use 10-30 or just straight 30 or even possibly 20/50 to slow the consumption down. Any other ideas on how to slow it down or could there be an emmission component causing this? This car needs and IV! Thanks for any suggestions. [email protected] |

Re: Oil Consumption
my oil consumption was due to piston rings.

Re: Oil Consumption
Do you have the correct PCV Valve? They are special calibrated units from Saturn.. The wrong one will cause excessive oil in the TB and Air cleaner box..
