Re: What is an ECU??

an ECU is your cars computer it controls a lot of electric stuff on your engine. but im not sure what gains you'll get. oh and yeah you should get a little more horsepower if you up grade your ecu. not 100% sure though

Re: What is an ECU??

if i was you (my opinion) wouldn't start out with changing the ecu. it runs around 500-2000 depending on what you want and brand. if the car is stock you're not going to gain that much horse power, i don't think. you really don't need to change the ecu unless you have; turbo, bigger injectors, bigger cam(s), or done alot of upgrade internal or external to your engine. most upgrades don't require changing the ecu. but it's up to you

the ecu, engine control unit i think that's what it stand for. it reads off all of your sensor on your engine, for example like your oxygen sensor and your coolant sensor to tell when to give it gas and let off gas when you frist start the car to warm it up. it read your injector to tell which injector to pulse fuel in the the cylinder. i think you get the point. but yeah that all the ecu does. it read and tells what needs to be done to get the job done right. (keeps the engine running)

If you don't even know what an ecu is, I would recommend you don't buy an adjustable one and screw up your engine.
