taking out engine

I am taking out my engine and i was reading in my manual that i have to take off the torq converter fastener plate i think that is what it is called what is this thing i have to take off before I can take out my block. and where is it. i have a pretty good idea but I want to be sure. This jeep is going to be my toy and i was wondering where i could get info on putting a chev 350 conversion in it. Thanks
