Unhappy Skylines in Holland

I have just ill advisely imported a R34 skyline into holland and now I am going through the nightmare of getting the thing registered. Has anyone done this? I was told that it might be posible get it registered in the UK then reimported to the Netherland....hmmm costly. Could this be done in Germany?

Help

Helloe there,

I used to live in Holland with an R33 GTR, I tried to import but the conversation went a bit like this:-

Customs- How much was the car new in Holland
Me - It was never sold new in Holland,
Customs- Oh.. How much was it new in Eurpoe
Me, It never was sold new in Europe..
Customs.. Does it have European type approval..
Me.. NO
Customs.. Then you cant import it then.

I had this conversation twice with police knocking at my door saying I had to import it because I had lived here for more than 6 months.

The only way I can see you importing this is forst via the UK because the UK has a 'Single Vehicle Import' rule from there you stand a chance - its not too expensive into UK but Holland is {Oh my god} around 30% of the new car cost which today would equate to around €20,000+
Plus then how the hell are you going to insure it?
If you still want one then contact Customs (Duarne) in holland they are very helpfull.

Hope this helps

Thumbs up Re: Skylines in Holland

Thanks for your contribution Ivor....now please excuse me while I slitt my wrist!! No... your coments were most welcome and I think I will consider importing the car in to the UK then re-import into Holland. I have already been in touch with and SVA company and once I can figure out how to address the customs and transportation issues will hope to get things off the ground

Cheers

Re: Skylines in Holland

There are several Skylines being registered now in Holland, so it should be no problem
