Question 325tds E36 Engine Braking Probs

I havem a problem. A '97 3 series- I took it to US from Eng. a year ago.
212k and still 44mpg. Not a lot of diesels in US or RHD- the state troopers love it.

When changing into 2nd- with clutch in (5sp. manual) engine revs drop
so low it nearly stalls. Also when decelerating (mainly) I can feel a
judder sometimes (the rev. counter doesn't jump around when I feel the judder.) I first noticed the problem when changing into 2nd just before I
moved to US. The engine judder and the 2nd gear change problems are
not there all of the time-.

Is there any BMW diesel guru's out there know what Iam on about. If your car is not a Chevy or Ford out here in wilder parts of NH- then no one has a clue. I took the car to the local dealer- he didn't even know BMW made a diesel and RHD cars. Know what I mean.

Any help- would be great.
