1995 astro van transmission

my wife ran over something in road that caused the transmission to stop shifting into 3rd gear and also caused the speedometer to stop working.
I looked under and found a small wiring harness that had been severed.
I reconnected the wires with no results. Does anyone have any ideas?

It is likely that the problem here is tghe vehicle speed sensor. It may be necessary to replace the interface and the harness, which may be miswired. This signal tells the ECM vehicle speed, allowing the trans to be properly controlled. Ray
