Re: 98 civic ebrake (help please!)

I grabbed myself the largest biggest knife i could find. I just cut down on the top until i hit the metal, a lot harder than it sounds. Then that's only half of it. If you have a general ebrake handle, I think mine's Momo, you're going to have to file off a lip of metal on the bottom of the ebrake metal handle. You'll see what i mean if you ever get there. Just use whatever you can to cut the plastic cover off. It took me hours. The filing of the metal even longer. Some say they can just pull it off, , i doubt that. The metal underbody of the handle is some tough metal and isn't all that easy to file off. Again, i went to Home Depot to get the badest file i could find. Good luck. It's been asked before, and the response was that it was the hardest modification to do.

The e-brake does just pull off. I did it on my 98 civic. Took me about a half hour of twisting the hell out of it (with vice grips) and that loosened it a little, and i grabbed the handle and pulled AS HARD AS I COULD (towards the windshield away from the handle) and it pulled right off (resulting in slamming my back on the center counsle. Worth a try, just yank hard on that bastard.

Yea I did the same, whipped out the biggest knife I could find and was like "HAHAHA YOU WILL DIE EBRAKE!". And started cutting away, but after about 10 mins I was like this sucks! And I yanked and yanked and the handle came right off, "IM AN IDIOT!," I told myself. And thats my life story.
