I have a 1992 Primera (NZ Model, Japaneese Import) with a 2 litre SR20DE engine. A couple of weeks ago I took it out for a drive on the beach. A couple of hours later I crossed a low stream crossing (Below the sills) and then 10 minutes later on the way home the oil light flashed briefly. I stopped and checked the oil level but everything seemed fine.
I returned the car home and left it. When I started the car about seven hours later from stone cold the oil pressure light stayed on and the engine had a serious knocking noise to it. This is currently being repaired by a mechanic (who has no idea what is wrong with it) where it has been for the past four weeks. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how I might be able to fix this or where I should start looking? It is suspected it could be the oil pump and that the knocking from the engine is from the low oil pressure. Cheers Terry |
