Talking McLarens in Sweden

Hello,

there is one guy who owns one standard and one GT-R:

http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/sho...ighlight=sthlm

http://www.zsh.net/gallery/albums/zs...2/IM000335.jpg

He also owns:

Ferrari F40
Ferrari 550 Marranello
Porsche GT1
Dauer EB 110
Porsche 962 Dauer
Mclaren F1 LM
MB CLK GTR
Jaguar XJ220
Lamborghini Diablo GT

Mr Dauer confirmed that one of the eleven Dauer 962 (worlds fastest car ) was in Sweden and I've seen a test of it and its black. Very nice. Here is a visit to Dauer if you want to see.

Here is a quote from Gordon Murray regarding the Dauer:

So, why does McLaren claim to be the fastest street legal production car without even having a top speed of 400 km/h? To quote Mr Murray himself from a letter he wrote to the British magazine Evo:

"Firstly, our records are only valid for a true production car which has passed full EEC type approval and emmisions testing. There have been several other low volume specials (such as the Porsche 962) that have acheived a higher top speed)."

Gordon Murray, technical director McLaren Cars Ltd

My visit to Dauer:

I beleive there are around 4 McLarens in Sweden.

The "F1 LM" with the GTR badge is not really an LM. It is really an F1 GTR - a 1996 model, #11R. It has been refinished by the factory to appear very similar to a true LM, but it is not one. Personally, I think it was a mistake of the factory to honor those requests - there is at least one other GTR that has received a similar treatment as well as one more I beleive.

Thanks for the link and the info.

Also, the green F1 road car you included a photo of is now for sale here along with a FINA long tail GTR:

Maybe if you are close by there you could get us some more photos and also confirm the chassis number as #051?

Great Collection, bravo.
I agree with Peloton, sad taht the factory complied with those requests.

Regards to the article on the m5 board, it is "tough" to read since it has many technical mistakes.

Sorry to quote myself, but Maarten sent me a few more pics of this car. I was going to dig up the original thread and couldn't find it.

Decent shots, but I wish they were larger.

Re: McLarens in Sweden

Hello,

thanks for the link f1esp.

There were two tv emissions in France on his collection. He ordered an Enzo but I don't know if he has received it or not.

The link to the videos on m5board is broken

Ciao
Phil

The only think "technical" I see wrong in that thread is this comment, but I think you were just slightly confused:

"Wow the GT-R was only produced in 5 examples"

I believe you meant to say "LM", but were a bit confused as to what this car actually was at the time. No real harm there though.

For the record, there were 9 GTRs built in 1995 - 7 of those 9 cars competed in the 24Hrs of LeMans in 1995 and as you stated, 5 of them managed to finish the race. Those were the five cars the LM was built to comemorate. Additionally, McLaren Cars built a prototype of the LM prior to building those 5 customer cars, so there's really 6 of them in total.

As for the total number of GTRs, 9 more were built in 1996 with minor improvements over the '95 model. Then 10 long tailed versions were produced in 1997 for a total of 28. There is also a mystery 'spare parts' GTR that still continues to race in the AJGTC series through this year. It's more than likely this GTR was created using the spare chassis, but I have no guarantees on that.
