am pm made my car sound like a diesel

About a week ago I decided I'd save some money and filled up with am pm gas. The next day after driving for a while my car started to sound like a diesel. I pulled over and checked my oil but it was full. So two days ago I put Chevron gas in my car and after about 30 minutes of driving my car was perfectly fine. Someone told me am pm uses like 10 % alcohol and oxyginates their gas and makes engines run leaner or something like that. But from now on I'm staying far away from am pm.

ive never even considered using that shit. i use chevron, shell, or 76 exclusively. thats all i will ever use. i'd rather drive less or shift lower, using the same amount of money on gas, than use that garbage in my car.

am pm should be arco. i use them all the time never hade any problems if u ask me. as far as shell, sometimes i feel like they are ripping me of or something, i know the gas is pretty expensive but dam i'll be paying a lot more then other gas stations. as far as gas goes, someone told me that they are basically from one or two big distributers in which they sell it to companies like arco, shell, or chevron.

1.46 for 93 is really sweet, although i never heard of amoco. i pay 1.75+ for the same octane and this is at arco, shell on the other hand would be around 2.00+

Re: am pm made my car sound like a diesel

arco is the best. cheap(er) gas. In socal, we pay $1.90ish for 91 (the best we have). I think your car running like a diesel is a figment of your imagination. All gas is the same. The goverment randomly tests the gas stations.

i'd NEVER put arco gasoline into my car. any time i've ever done it (not in either of my teg's), i've had ping'n an my car simply ran like shit.

chevron and shell only. summer prices were around $2.00 for 92 octane, and now its down to around $1.70 for the 92...sad...i want 93...

Man you guys can'y get 93? We have 101 octane at a few of the stations around here It was $3.90 the last time I checked.

tran_nsx Amoco is the same as BP all the staions are called BP now but they have Amoco gas. Maybe it is just a east coast thing I dunno. Anyway $2.00 for 92 is crazy , you guys have it bad out there LOL I don't think I have ever seen gas prices break $1.70 for 93 here.

Yeah, I've used Arco/AM PM with my 96 GSR all the time, never had a problem and doesn't seem like anythings gonna happen too. Saved me some money and no problems.

Re: am pm made my car sound like a diesel

you guys are lucky to have octane ratings of 93. the highest ive seen in southern CA is 91. i use only the gas from chevron, shell and 76. i pay like $1.75/gal for 91. gas is too expensive here in CA.
