1995 Aurora Inst. light dimmer

Does anyone know where the dimmer switch is located (PN AC Delco D1509B) I believe this is located somewhere between the instrument panel dimmer control and the heavy load of multiple lamps. The dimmer control switch panel along with the fuel door switch panel are lit by leds and these dim/brighten normally. This a fairly inexpensive part and I thought I would try it first before replacing the twilight control. (the twilight sensor/control does not work either)

Replaced Instrument Panel Dimmer Switch, AC Delco D1509B AC SWITCH. This switch is on the drive side of the steering column support about half way to the firewall.

My dimmer works, but the twilight never has since I've owned it. Did it solve any of your problems?

Twilight Sentenal

Hi Indy8,
I tested the Twilight Sentinel before putting in the new part and it was working. So I doubt that the two have anything to do with one another.
While working on this I discovered that manual switched operation of the headlamps uses the relays (and other stuff) in the Twilight Sentinel computer, if your dimmers work when the head lamps are on, your dimmer switch is OK. To test operation I had to cover all dashboard sensors with towels and set the control to about mid range.

Re: Twilight Sentenal

So in a dark garage, with engine running in park, I should be able to scroll up & down w/ the switch and at some point the lights should come on?

Twilight control setting

The control works as follows --
At the minimum setting there is a detent and if you continue to roll the control in this direction it will turn the system off, feels the same as using the instrument lights dimmer to turn on the dome light. Anyway, as long as the system is on (somewhere in the middle), it should work. Setting the control within the "on" range controls the time that it takes for the headlights to automatically shut off when the engine is shut down.

Re: Twilight control setting

Does the sentinel control all exterior lights, or just headlights?
