Starting a 6 Month Dormant 924

I let my Porsche sit for 6 months after I went cruising one evening at an easy 100 mph and the back hatch glass sucked out of the frame and smashed into a million tiny pieces. I have a new glass now and the car is giving me a rash with starting. It's a 1980 924 Turbo.

I did have a problem in the past with junk in the gas tank (cleaned it out) and everytime I called the only mechanic I let work on it to start the car, he does this with no problems. It pisses me off because he won't tell me how he does it. I surmised that he is using ether, which is what I have used in the past only I am not sure where to put this in the fuel system to not cause a blowout of the intake (I would use minimal amounts anyway and *flush* it between each app).

If you are going to tell me to take it back to the mechanic, save your breath. I have rebuilt VW engines before and just because I make enough money to where I don't have to do this anymore, I am also thru with not knowing my own equipment just because I have a day job that takes my time.

Does anyone have any tips on what I can do to get this car running again?

Thank you,
Charlane

go get some dytyl eather (starting fluid ) and spry it in the air box(where the air filter is but behind it) dont go overbord on the stuff just a 3-6 second shot and then quickly get in your car and start it. if that doesnt work charge the battery cuz if it doesnt start with the eather it doesnt have spark.
also if you are on the side of the road and this happens just about anything flamible works ie wd40, hairspray, butane. although stay away from gas and if appicable hairspray
