how hard to replace a head gasket, ill get a 95 hatch if i can
hey guys, i am working out a deal to get a free/very cheap(dont knwo yet) 95 white dx hatch, this guy has a 96 camry with a blown headgasket if i can find a new motro for it or replace the hg then i will have another hatch, let me know, is it just taking apart the motor and scraping off the old gasket and slapping a new one in? sounds so easy...

Repalcing the head gasket is semi-easy with the proper tools. If the engine was over heated I recommend getting the head inspected & possibly machined. Also check the block good for any cracks/damage. You might as well change the water pump/timing belt, valve adjustment, cam seal, etc.
This is for a 91 CRX, just to give you an idea - i leave the intake manifolds in the car, no reason to take it out with the head. http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual...ges/91-6-8.jpg http://www.binghamtonlife.com/manual...ges/91-6-9.jpg Get a repair manual from www.helminc.com - this way you will have the exact information & torque spec's(VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!) |
