I have a 93 Saturn SL with quite a few miles on it
it accelerateds farily quickly except when you punch the gas
it then bogs down and then catches up and takes off

Does anyone have any ideas??

Re: engine dying when punching gas

A MAP sensor problem is a good possibility. On your car, the map sensor is bolted to the left side of the valve cover. It gets it's vacuum supply from a small plastic hose that connects underneath it and runs to the rear the throttle body. The rubber elbows at either end of the plastic hose tend to collapse over time and give a false MAP reading to the PCM. If these elbows can be easily collapesed with your fingers, best to replace the hose. You should be able to buy it from Saturn for less than $20.
