Cars for big and tall guys

Hey guys do you know of any good cars that are good for big and tall guys, I got into a BMW and Mercedez and the fit was tight, the steering wheel was crushing my leg and I just did not feel comfortable in one. I am about 6'4 and 210 pounds.

Re: Cars for big and tall guys

I'm 6'-4" too and it's really hard to find out what will and will not fit. Some people are long in the torso and some are long in the legs. It also depends as to what you will put up with.

I have a 34" inseam and cars that I've owned: Lotus Europa, Triumph Spitfire, Alfa Spider, Escort

Cars that I couldn't fit into and drive: MG Midget, Miata, Tercel

I think it's probably my legs, I'm also having trouble with the pedals since I have big feet too I think. I haven't got into any SUVs or Trucks though, I was wondering if anyone knew any that were spacious.

I found a great resource for tall drivers

Believe me if you think you're having problems finding a car to fit in, try being 6ft10!

I was doing some research online and found a great resource for tall drivers. It's called The Height Site. They have lots of info for clothes and tall stuff, but their auto section is Awesome!

http://www.heightsite.com/8_auto/8index.htm

It really helped me narrow down the field so I didn't have to waste time trying out vehicles that pretend to be bigger than they are. Without this site, I would have tried out quite a few cars, trucks and SUVs that brag about their headroom. Seems the manufacturers and dealers neglect to mention that they measure from the floor to the roof to get their headroom numbers and don't take into account the fact that drivers might actually need to sit in a seat and see out the windshield while enjoying their headroom. The slope of the windshield is more important to taller drivers.... look at the new VW Beatle. The domed roof gives loads of extra headroom if you want to stare at the sun visor and is totally useless if you want to see out of the windshield.

I could go on about legroom issues too, but I don't know how they measure to get the numbers they advertise. The height Site does a great job of breaking things down because steering wheel tilt, center console placement and seat pitch can all limit legroom. Plus the pedal placement, seems like a lot of the newer Asian imports have small pedals placed too close together for my size 14 feet to deal with. Check out the Height site if you're still looking for a vehicle. I know I'm glad I did!
