GA Power Seat Problemo

I have a 1999 Grand Am, my lovely daughter got in it and played with the drivers side power seat and now, yes.. It don't work...
The electric motor makes noise, humms... however the seat does not go up or down.
Called the Dealer they recommended replacing the motor, $50.
If the motor makes noise like it is turning is there another link that could be bad, and not the motor. Any body men specialists out there?

Does the seat still move forward and back? If so, its a linkage problem and not the motor. That could be just as expensive or even more.

The feature on this model of power seat only goes up and down. The electric motor operates, makes noise like it is ,I think it is hung up, the linkage.
I spoke with an associate that is a manager at a Car Parts store he has had experienced similiar problems with power seats. He repaired the seat by unjamming the mechanism, he removed the seat flipped it over and freed up the jammed lingage, he may have lubed it too.
I will give it a shot. I researched the price for another motor $263. ouch.
I am pulling that boy out to take a look first..
