Groan or Grinding noise in Steering wheel -2003 Suburban
My 2003 Suburban steering wheel will make what sounds like a groan at certain times when turning. It does not happen at high speeds. It tends to be when backing up or turning into a parking spot or driveway. The dealership has not been able to solve/find a problem. Anyone have a suggestion as to what it might be so I can share this with the dealership and get the problem fixed?

i think its just a general flaw in the way they are designed. my 95 burb does it, and my dads 94 pickup does the same. i have no clue what it is, but i know that its annoying. if you figure it out lemme know.

John,
My 03 had the same problem. The steering gear will have to be replaced because their were some defective ones made according to my dealer. It happens around 1,100 to 1,300 RPM, and while your turning the wheel. Don't know if there is a bulletin issued regarding this. Greg |

Ive had 2 suburbans and 2 silverados. All of them did that. I just think that it is the powersteering. I just ignore it, it doesnt seem to be doing any harm to my trucks, but if you find a way to fix this, pls tell me
Thanks! BigRed03 |
