My first car!

Ok. I am buying a Black 1990 Eclipse GS Turbo. I don't actually have the car in my possesion because I have to make payments to the guy that's selling it (private owner). He's being cool about it so I don't wanna rush him. Anyways, what are some mods or certain things to do to keep my car in good shape (it already has 150k on itbut still runs great and the turbo was rebuilt at 100k) I actually have to learn how to drive it first (its a stick and I need more practice). My b/f test drove it and said I would learn just fine driving it. Any advice on this car? Am I looking at a lot of reapairs later on? Are they pretty reliable? Thanks in advance...

concrats and welcome!!!

as far as problems - it depends on how the guy that you are buying it from drove it...if he beat on it everyday then you most likly will have problems down the road, but if he drove it nice then you shouldnt have to worry about it, if anything you will probably need new spark plugs if they havent been changed in a while, check the oil - make sure the you dont have anti freeze in it, find out if he has ever had the tranny flushed, or the tranny fluid changed... if not i would do that right away to keep from having any other problems ---- all in all these are just little precautions that i would suggest before buying a car with 150k on it... good luck with it, have fun. peace

Yeah rst said those things that you really need to get checked out. With 150k you shouldn't really ignore any problems with it. It all comes down to whether or not the car was taken care of properly. If it was taken care of properly then it could probably go to about 200k. Welcome and have fun with the mitty.

Yeah thanks. The guy that owned it never drove it hard or anything. He is only the second owner of the car (he bout it in May '90) and he's older and just drove it normal and stuff. I won't actually be able to get the car until January I just found out because I have to make him payment because I'm not rich. LOL. Anyways he said he has been going out and starting it every day to help it live or whatever so it should be good when I get it. Thanks again!
