Re: turbo on an n/a?
currently there aren't any turbo kits for the na 300zx. the engine compression is too high, i think around 10.5 whereas the twin turbo engine vg30dett has about 8.5. if u want big power you need to buy a TT

Well not neccesarily 90na300zx. If you take a look at this site, this will tell you all the difference in the two engines... And beleive me, its not that much!NA to TT conversion now if this site doesnt work I can give you a few sites that will, haha

I'm going to bolt on a turbo (or maybe even a supercharger) to my 93 300zx n/a. The deal is, I have to decompress the engine, bolt-on turbo (single) add intercooler etc but definately do-able. I'm doing it for about $4k AUD. I've got my own mechanic though who is f*^king awesome!
I was thinking about doing a s/charger just to be different! Imagine a Z with a big snout out the bonnet......hardass! |

I am not even sure if a supercharger would fit under that thing... Theres like a mm from the plenum to the hood
. But man you said your in Aussey right? You know that John Penlington is putting a VQ35DE in his Z, and single turbo charger her. But you see its a lot more involved than just bolting on and plugging in, LOTS more involved. Compression ratio must be lowered drastically, heads must be rebuilt to handle the forced induction, cams must be changed to allow more exhaust flow... It is not cheap or easy to do, I personally would be scared to take on such a project. VG30DETT swap, or VQ30DETT (Y33 Gloria) I wouldnt suggest MAKING a car turbo, some it works easy with, but some.... Ewww. peace

Re: turbo on an n/a?
Hey, I just want to get my car back!! I haven't seen it for two months! It's been in the bloody bodyshop getting a sweet ass veilside b/kit with a black adjustable GT-Wing being put on it. I also just yesterday got some nice JL-Audio 6" Splits for it. I WANT MY Z BACK!!!!
Thanks for the info though, i'll pass it onto my mechanic, but if he says he can do it then he can! |

two months seems like a really long time to put on a body kit if you ask me, are they doing anything else, besides painting it, cause that seems like a really long time

Dude... I am so bored right now.
Yea just a little long... Maybe they parted it out, and theyre going to kill you when you come and ask about it
. May I suggest some actions to do to your mechanic, thanks to AF's wonderfull "smileys" selection 1. Walk up to him, and calmly: 2. During a conversation: ![]() 3. Find him on the street: 4. First get him drunk... Then one: or two: ![]() 5. Approach him and... 6. Walk up to him, act happy to see him... Then... 7. Or just find a stick and... ![]() 8. Find his wife... And...

Lol - thanks for the advice fellas!
It was probably worth waiting the extra time cause he fixed the front (straightened, fixed etc - crashed into another car), fitted, painted bodykit (in 2pac) and fixed a little prang on the back all for $2500 (AUD) which is thousands less than anywhere else! And he is actually a really good panel beater - just not a good time management consultant! ![]() But yeah, i feel like that sometimes. Just looking forward to the end result - i get it back this week. If anyone is in Australia check out the link www.carmate.com.au - i got my veilside bodykit and GT-Wing for $1250, that's the best price I found! Very good quality too. Peace out |

Re: turbo on an n/a?
Yes, it is possible and it hasbeen done. For the most complete information, send me an email to Ken-in-AZ and you will need to review his profile for a Z31 car on Z31.com Look for that name and click on his name. His profile lists what he did on an '87 Z so you should be able to replicate what he did on your Z32 car. PDF

Re: turbo on an n/a?
No one makes a bolt on turbo for the N/A Z32.
I have seen a turbo on a new generation Celica and that has 11.0:1 compression. So, it is possible to do, but you'll have to fabricate and tune it yourself. If you have any ambitious friends brave enough to help you and the wallet to support your idea then go for it. But with the option of a factory turbocharged engine available, for about the same price of what you'd be investing in anyway, why try? Besides, if you want to go past whatever that bolt-on turbo gives you, you'll end up back to square one. |
