Help with Tyrrell 020

Hi

I need some help with the front wing. The thing is that Tamiya suplies the white decals to "paint" some parts on the front wing but it really doesn't look that great. I could paint those parts but then they would't quite match with the white decal stripes in the rest of the body.
Can't decide the way to go...
Anyone who has done this model?

Use the white decals as a pattern to mask and paint the white sections on, then trim the red stripes off the decal and place it at the edge of the white you painted on the model. I doubt if those decals are opaque enough to cover that metallic gray anyway.

Re: Help with Tyrrell 020

Having built this model I know what you mean. These white decals aren't very good to use to "paint" those parts white. This model was my first Tamiya F1 so I decided to test with it a bit. I used all the white decals, with mixed results, and only had major problems with the ones on the front wing endplates. I painted them white using a Revell white paint, (not sure what #) and it turned out pretty good. I saw this model once somewhere with all the white painted and not decaled and that looked much better. Hope this helps...

Nope they aren't, the gray shines through slightly making the white a kinda strange "paint".
