pro/con with the FC

arite, i'm planning on purchasing a 1987 rx-7 turbo II. i heard from a friend who says that the FC rotary engine has some problems with it and is difficult to maintain. the one i'm planning on purchasing has the following on it:
-relocated battery to one of the bins in the back
-it has an optima bat
-it has the RB dual pulley on the alternator.
-Infini steering wheel from a jap spec third gen on.
-RB oil cooler hoses
-replaced all of the the coolant hoses.
-intake
-HKS blow off valve
-blitz dual turbo timer
-keyless entry.
-few new o.e.m. parts to replace the old dirty ones
-has 89 tail lights.
i'd appreciate it if you can provide some feedback to how well the FC is (i.e. high maintaince car, problems with the rotary engine, etc.)
as well as and pro's and con's of the car. if you could also give me an estimate of how much this car is worth, that would be greatly appreciated. thank you very much.

First off, mileage would be a BIG factor in your pricing. Do you have the mileage of the car?

Second, the rotary is a WONDERFUL motor, and if treated right, will last a long time. Its capable of more "bang for your buck" then most other motors out there. THE PROBLEM IS, it doesnt take well to mistakes. If you start to modify your rotary, you have to do it right.

Most people get a TII, and start cranking up the boost with little regard to fueling, etc.. And rotaries dont like to ping..AT ALL.

If that car is in perfect shape, and mileage is 100k or less, 3000 or so is about what I would pay.

thanks for your reply. yeah its a nice car. but the price got a little too expensive for me. i was looking around and i see alot of FC's out there. i know the rotary engine is different, so what should make sure is in good condition other than the milage?

How easy it starts (especially when warm) is a good start. Check ALL electronics, FCs are notorious for bad wiring If the mileage is 150,000 or so, and the motor hasnt been swapped, plan on swapping it, soon. Although the N/As can run to 200,000 plus miles.]

once its been running idle for a few minutes hold it at 6k rpms and have someone watch the exhaust gases, if greenish blueish smoke comes out you might wanna check the o-rings and seals and that kinda stuff, they tend to go out
