My truck is stalling out while I'm driving it and at stop lights. It has new plugs, wires, and dist-cap. The fuel is pumping fine and there are no fuel injector problems. When it stalls I disconnect then reconnect the wire at the center of the dist-cap and at the other end where it connects and then the truck starts. This wire is new also. Any help on the fix? Thanks!

Re: 1995 GMC 5.7L K1500 stalls out
When it stalls, does it restart or does it spin and not start?
Are you removing and reinstalling the coil wire?

Re: 1995 GMC 5.7L K1500 stalls out
I have the same truck and had the same problem a few wks ago. It would only restart if I mashed the throttle to the floor. That told me that the TBU was getting too much fuel and by opening the throttle plates I was letting more air into the engine. I first replaced the fuel psi regulator thinking that it failed and it was letting excess fuel by into the TBU. That wasn't it. I then noticed that the (ECT) engine coolant temp sensor connector (2-wire connector with blk/yellow wires at the front of the intake manifold) had broken off causing the ECM (computor) to think that the engine was running cold all the time so it was dumping excess fuel into the TBU. I replaced the sensor and spliced in a new connector and the engine runs great. Hope this helps.

It sounds like a throttle position sensor is starting to go I would test the sensor? |
