HI,
I am new to this forum and i was wondering if anyone knew where a could get a book or a online site with detailed pictures and descriptions on building a H22/H22a and putting it into a 1993 accord LX. and also i think it would need a new tranny as well. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, Dmitry p.s i know about this manual 90-93 Accord Ultimate Resource CD-ROM - Revision 6 |

As far as building the motor, I'm just using my chiltons manual. It has a lot of pics and pretty detailed instructions. The swap itself is pretty basic for those years. As far as what I know, if you aren't going to put down a lot of power, the stock mounts will work for the 90-93 as well as many other things, even the stock tranny itself. May just wanna get a new clutch and pressure plate though.

You don't have to get the jdm, that's just the thing now a days. They do put out a little more hp, but not much. The engine parts are the same for the most part though. As far as getting parts for the engine, if you don't have a shop around you that deals with imports, you can always buy it online. Summit racing now deals with a lot of import parts also.

There are some books out on "How to build up a Honda" I was at Barnes & nobel last week and they had 4 books covering everything, incl. dyno test, build ups, and how to's, As for putting in a h22 into a 4th gen Accord it's really easy all mounts match, ( except for the tranny mount holes on tranny form the h22 have to be tapped for your mounting) but they match, you can use your f22 tranny, but I wouldn't it does have taller gears that would be good for a turbo appl. but there is a reason Honda didnt just use the same tranny........ The h22 trany was made for the motor, and I think has better get up and go...( isnt that why you want a diff. motor anyways) As for the hp gain usdm vs. jdm is 10 hp
the jdm type s has another 20hp, jdm h22a has a higher comp. pistons. and the type s has higher comp. than non type s, as well as stock port and polish and differnt tuning but all in all the same motor. One more option for you is ( i assume you are building a motor ) get a h23 block, and put the h22 vetc head on it, that would start you out w/ more displacment, and if you have a shop balance it and you get the right parts to rev upto 10K you would have A very fast car......then some boost... well hope this helped you some on you quest. |
