90 Sentra transmission problems
Hi. My 90 Sentra has some transmission problems. Here are the symptoms:
1. The transmission shakes (and also the car body) when I slowly release the clutch. 2. When I am already using the car for about 30 minutes to 1 hour (especially going through a moderate to heavy traffic), it becomes difficult to shift the shift stick to the first gear and reverse gear. 3. The clutch pedal becomes heavy after 30 minutes to 1 hour of use. What could be the main problem? Is it the clutch disk, clutch cover, release bearings, mounts, or is it the gears itself. Please help me. Iam clueless. Thanks. |

Yeah man. I get number 1 and 2 sometimes.
#2 To begin, it's almost impossible for me to shift into first gear so I read my car manual and it told me to double clutch. So like every time I really need to get into first I end up doing that quickly. But well I believe that first gear isn't a syncronized gear like the rest (innovation that made shifting all the other gears besides reverse smooth and easy without haveing to shift into nuetral first, then gear, every single time.) So maybe first gear is having a few problems from being shifted into without will for these years. Same thing probably happened with the previous owner of my car and that's why I have the same problem. #1 I only seem to have that problem while in 2nd gear. Sometimes it'll like putter and go back and forth sort of feeling like it doesn't want to go, but after i get it going it's pretty smooth. At only 71k miles I think it's just the lady who previously owned my car wasn't very crafty at driving a manual transmission. Even when I was buying it she said, "I can't wait to get my new acura rsx, I'll finally be done with this shifting stuff." Oh well. Hopefully someone has a solution to this. |
