high wattage headlight bulbs

hello. i have a 92 plymouth laser rs. i was lookin at some higher wattage headlight bulbs (80 -100 watts) from e-bay, etc. i was wondering if any of you have tried them. i am worried about overloading the wires, switches, etc with the increased wattage. also, i wonder if there is any chance of melting or deforming the headlamp housings (plastic) from the heat.

also, has anyone tried the kind that are stock wattages, but white (i.e., 4000 -7000K)? i saw some and it didnt look like there was more light output (to see the road easier, further ahead, etc), but it may have been a bad brand or i might have not looked closely enough. any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated. thank you

i had some 85 watt for my low beams and it melted the wires where the turn signal lever meets the steering columm... so i just hard wired a switch to control the head lights by that now, although my parking lights still work with the regular swich... but i have a 2g so i'm not sure about the 1g's but i thought i would reply just incase anyone else had the same questions about the 2g's.

[Edit] my bad i thought you had an eclipse...i think there pretty close to the same but i really dont know for sure, sorry!

thank you very much for the reply. that is the kind of thing i wanted to hear. i was worried about that. i cant believe how much brighter even 80 watt ones are than stock. hence my reason for wanting some. but if melting wires is more or less inevitable, i think i would pass (dont need to lose lighting in the boonies at night or have a nice fire.LOL).

as for laser vs eclipse, i dont think there is any difference between the two cars except cosmetics. i have to do every search under eclipse cuz i get nada otherwise. i actually normally call it "the eclipse" cuz no one knows what a Laser is or looks like.

thanks again. people with experiences or wiring gurus whom know the load capacity of the circuitry come on in.
