Sub quit

I have 2 memphis 12's and 2 rev 455 boss amps. They have a lot of bump and one of the cleanest sounds I have ever heard. Each amp is hooked up to each sub and has been working without problems for over a year. Recently one of my subs just quit working. The other sub still works perfectly. The amp still has power and can still work but the sub doesn't do anything. I can still get a ground feed off of it but still no sound. I have checked everything and don't know what is happening.

Re: Sub quit

Have you switched the subs so you know whether it was really the sub or the amp?
How much power do those amps put out, how much power can the subs take, and what is your gain set at?

Did you smell anything when it went?

1) I did switch it and the sub worked so it is either the amp or the connection of the amp.
2) The amps pump out 600 watts each
3) The subs can handle either 700 or 800 watts. I'm not sure which one but they are higher than the subs.
4) My gain is set a little above normal. Normal is 0 and it is set at 1.5 out of 4. It goes both ways from negative 4 to positive 4
5) There was no smell.

Please help! I can't go without both subs pumping my car.
P.S. I have 24 hours to live!!!!!!(Well maybe not)

Re: Sub quit

Are there any lights on on the amp (power, protection, etc)?
What size power wire are you using, and how is the remote turn on wired?

Sorry for all of the questions, but it makes troubleshooting a lot easier

My power light is on and my protect light is not. I am running an 8 guage wire into a splitter made by stinger. The power wires then go to I think 10 or 12 guage going to the amps. With my remote wire, I have the wire spliced into the remote wire for the working amp. It's cool with the questions. Your just trying to help.
Peace.

Re: Sub quit

I just looked, each amp puts out 300x1. With 2 300 watt amps you definately need a larger power wire than that, by a longshot. I have an idea but I kinda doubt it is the cause. If you disconnect the working amp (just remove the permanent + wire from it), does the amp that appears to be dead start going?

I tried that but it still didn't work. Should I go buy bigger power wires?
