jetta diesel and glow plug..

jetta 94 turbo diesel 1.9L

I had a 89 jetta T-diesel and it was not the same engine,,(was a 1.6L)
I have the habit with a diesel.. since,, humm 14 y. with diesel..

have a problem with this one,, 1.9 L.. its comming colder here in canada now..,, around freezing point,, its my first time,, winter with my 1.9L..

had problem few day s ago to stard.. very hard to start.. to cold..

So I think there is a problem with glow plug.. I know how to verify them one,, by one but big job.. ..so I will have to do it.. but..

remark.. those one are fast heat glow plug.. so according to.. its 12 Amp each glow plug.. ,, there is 4 of them,, so 48 Amp is approx. the current needed to light them up..

wire going to glow plug.. this 1.9 L. have only 2 little wire,,
size,,18gauge only.. I find those wire much smaller than on my old 1.6 L engine who was like a 6 Gauge wire..(wire from fuse on the firewall to the glow plug)

is this normal or.. is there a missing wire going to glow plug...

the 2 small wire are comming from a connector who contain 10..or 12 wire locate on the side of the motor block ..

thanks for the information,,
denis..

Hi Denis,

I'm not too familiar with the diesels myself, but I do know tdiclub.com has a wealth of knowledge. you might want to try them.
