Ebay intake should be fine, just put a k&n filter on it to replace the one that comes with it

yup. the filter that comes with an ebay one is usually not that good of a filter. just go buy a k&N cone filter for it.

well.......it all depends on how u have the CAI set-up, because ebay intakes along with most other intakes have it set-up to where the filter is right next to the batter, and thats not giving u power, it is most likely taking away power because of all that ht air it is sucking in from the engine. Most CAI's only are effective when you use a extension. This extension will put the filter out of sight under the car, this way u get beter air flow and better power. I would suggest a AEM intake because they make a bypass valve that does this where as if u by a ebay intake u will be doing something custom

What?! Its just a damn tube! They're all the same.

The proper info has been covered.. The main thing that seperates a generic CAI and an AEM is the K&N filter.. Just get the cheapy and spend some extra money on a K&N.
AEM also has a powdercoat on it to make it shiny and attract people to buying them. It probably helps keep the temps down a little bit, but nothing big enough to make a difference. If you wanted you could powdercoat the Ebay CAI, or thermal wrap it.

As far as the bypass valve load that he just said.. You can use the AEM bypass valve on your cheap-o intake, they're just tubing sizes, just make sure you buy the right diameter one.

a bypass valve is more crap AEM tries to sell you. If it rains a lot, take the CAI extension off and put it back on later. it takes about 2 minutes.

so what does the bypass valve really do? It sucks hot air from inside your engine bay through it.

Re: Ebay Cai Vs Others???

I think the bypass valve is good.. Its like having a spare hole in your straw just incase you start to suck up some liquid, it will just get air through the hole. Its cheap for a little peace of mind.

But it doesn't have to be on an AEM intake.. Or even an AEM bypass valve. (I assume someone has to have a knock off by now)

You never know if its goings to downpour out of nowhere. I really like the bypass vavle. Even if it does take away that .5 hp or whatever, I'm not even sure if I believe that, its better than a hydrolocked engine.

lol...a CAI is Cold Air Intake, which means it has the extension that puts it under the car. A short ram intake, SRI, has the filter sitting next to the battery. So, a Ebay CAI isn't any worse than an AEM, just needs to use a better filter

No Shit, look, i wasn't saying to run out and buy a AEM intake, im saying is that from what i heard they offer the best. I personally do have a cheap - o intake with a K&N Filter. And i bought my intake off ebay, it sits next to the battery, and what i am trying to say is that i don't think it does any better because it is right next to the engine
