I have a 4 door 2000 accord EX that I just recently lower with Eibach pro kit. I also have 17 inch rims with 235/45/17 tires on it. My rear wheal tends to rub up against the fender every time I turn or when the car bounces. Has anybody ever experience this yet. My car is not that low. I'm also using my original shocks. Should I change my shocks? What can I do to prevent this from happening. If I need to buy shocks what should I buy that is relatively inexpensive ( less than 100 a piece)
Thank you |

Re: help? lower 2000 honda accord EX
here are some stuff that can cause rubbing problem:
1. rims are too wide, more then 8" 2. rim's offset is too low 3. tires are too wide 4. car is too low new shocks will not help you there. you're most like having this problem because tires and rims combination isn't in right proportion, can't say for sure i need to know rim's width and offset. most of times low rim's offset is the reason for rubbing. for accords you would need rims with +42mm offset, but in your case (235mm wide tires) you might need +45mm offset.

Re: help? lower 2000 honda accord EX
Hey thanks for the input? I think my tires are too wide. I checked it on the website, and the max tires for my car is 225/45/17. What kind of tires do you have on your accord? does it rub?

Re: help? lower 2000 honda accord EX
i have 215/50/17 tires on 17x7 rims with +45mm offset, my car is V6 and its dropped 2", no rubbing here.
225/45/17 tires have same diameter as stock one, so it is better size then 235/45/17, and 225's might help you. btw, do you know offset on your rims?

Rolling the fenders is fine. But they still may rub. The problem is that the tires are toooo wide. You need to go down to 225/45/17. Actually, cause you only have 17 inch wheels, the proper size is 215/45/17

KYB AGX are not available for my car. What about the KYB GR2 shocks instead? Those are not adjustable. |
