96 jimmy w EDI distributor--need timing method

I replaced intake manifold gaskets due to coolant leak. took out the distributor and inadvertently changed crankshaft position. It is now running but gives OBD2 code 1345, camshaft position sensor, and I can't reset it with my OBD2, how do I put the engine back in correct time?

better description of problem--distributor out of time <HR SIZE=1>I have a 96 jimmy with the EDI distributor. I replaced the intake manifold gaskets (leaking coolant at number 1 damnit--only 160k miles) and marked the rotor in reference to the base prior to pulling the distributor. When I put it back together, I didn't realize the oil pump driveshaft moved and i must have put it in 1 tooth out. The distributor dropped in all the way about a tooth over and I thought my bad mark--OK--good design--they won't let me put it in wrong--it only goes in this tooth or 180 out. Bad assumption. It starts and runs but sets the 1345 code and my little cheapo scan tool will not reset it. I think this is the cam position sensor and probably goes along with the distributor being out of time. If the disty is out one tooth, how does it run? my mechanic experience is with old alfas and other sports cars and they would never run 1 tooth out. Also the hold down clamp is keyed to the distributor body so you can't turn the distributor and look at a timing light--how do you fine tune? I guess my question is how do I start over with the timing to get it right if my mark is bad or if I don;t have one? Thanks for any info--
