Seeing Nature's Beauty Through an SUV

Traveling the Magruder Road in Central Idaho provides a unique and unparalleled experience. The primitive dirt road connects two major wilderness areas. According to a story in The Idaho Statesman by Pete Zimowsky, the road explores "a world of deer, elk, 360-degree mountain vistas, granite peaks, old fire lookouts, silvery mountain streams, emerald alpine lakes, blackened burns from past forest fires and wilderness everywhere." Even though the wilderness areas themselves are closed to motor vehicles, the Magruder Road provides the opportunity for motorists to see "both wilderness areas from ridges that tower 7,000 to 8,000 feet. " However, nature lovers and would-be explores need to know that traveling the primitive road requires a high-clearance SUV or pickup truck.

Critics who argue that people don't "need" large SUVs, need to travel the Magruder Road.

Sounds like fun. I was planning to go through Idaho next year - perhaps I'll drive it if it's not too far out of the way.

Re: Seeing Nature's Beauty Through an SUV

It would be a blast if it was close enough to me. I live in Canada, you would think that type of thing would be more popular up here. HMM, maybe I should move a little farther north and start something...
P.S. You are sure on a roll tonight with starting threads eh Bruce?!? (I had to throw in the eh since I said I was in Canada)
