Should I buy it???

Hello all,

I want to buy Izusu and need a good advice. Hope someone will help me with my problem.

I am going to buy used (non-expensive) SUV and I found a Isuzu Rodeo 1998, 70K miles, 2WD, 2.2L, 4V, manual trans (I like manual). And they ask $5000 for it.
This car is clean and looks great, but I know nothing about Isuzu.
What is the average mileage for this kind of car? Is it too old 1998 for Isuzu? What do you think about the price?
I want to buy it and use at least 30-40K miles or 3 years without any problems, is it possible or it's a dream?

Please help me.

Best regards,
Oleg

I have one exactly like that. I bought it about 1 and a half years ago. It had 68k miles now it has 93k I have had to replace the water pump, fuel filter, and spark plugs, and I have a Check Engine light on for the camshaft position sensor. But I am very glad that I purchased the Rodeo. It is very roomy (imo), not enough power though. Very good for hauling a baby around, easy to get in and out with car seat/carrier.

Re: Should I buy it???

consider buying a V6 instead, you'll be much happier with it.
I got my 97 LS V6 for $3900
so there are deals out there, be prepaired anything that far under blue book is gonna need some maint. though.

I have a '97 LS with the V6, 2WD. Not a single problem, but I've been very good with the maintenance. 123K and counting...

Re: Should I buy it???

replacement of the EGR valve and Solenoid $500. Servicing the tranny ($300 due to how it's done, couldn't find anyone other than the dealer that would touch it.) MAF sensor replacement $300. Alternator and battery. $200

We bought the truck with 127K miles on it, it ran great at first, the owner gave us all his receipts for stuff, he had replaced the alternator before but that was the only major thing that he'd had to do before we got it.

Re: Re: Should I buy it???

Thanks for the warning. This is the kind of info I was looking for when I came to this forum. There is a very good forum for VW's, but this is the best I've seen for Isuzus. Servicing the tranny is tricky. Took me awhile to figure out where the fill plug is and how it's done.
