I was driving down the road the other day, when a rock hit my windshield. Anyone with a Rio, is it possible to get it fixed with no money out of pocket.

I have full coverage, as of nobody can buy a new car without it.

i'm guessing u have the full 10 year warranty, maybe bumper to bumper too, but i'm pretty positive that the dealer isn't gonna fix it for u..... u can get nething fixed that breaks accidentally or that u can cover up and say that it broke naturally (such as if u added aftermarket, jus place stock back in)...... hyundai n kia got same guidelines for warranty

Thumbs up

If they like you at the dealership, and your original sales person is there, and has a little pull . . . this might work:

Take your Rio in for some minor service . . . make up something and tell them it only happens once in a while . . . like some noise or a light that comes on and off . . . or anything that can get them to keep your car overnight at least . . . but won't cost you any money . . . then when you go to pick up your car . . .

Just go hysterical . . . hollering and acting all out of control and schitt! Then when somebody brave enough to come near you asks what the problem is . . . just stop!! Tell him/her to come real close and while you're whispering telling him to "take a look at my windshield" . . . start yelling again like: "WHAT THE PHUQ IS THAT?!!!" . . . and point at your windshield . . . :argue:

Smile Windshield

Hello,
I would check with the local glass shops, a lot of them will replace the windshield, and waive the deductable. I used to have a 1994 ford escort, and the windshield cracked. I got the windshield replaced, with NO MONEY OUT OF POCKET, by taking it to a glass shop that waived the deductable. If they repair it, instead of replacing it, make sure that they guarantee your satisfaction with the repair. that way if you don't like the way the repair looks, they will give you a new windshield for free.
This is a much better way of getting it fixed than going through the dealer.

Re: Rio Windshield Protection?

Next time you see a truck hauling gravel or something that showers the road- call the cops from your cell phone- tell them the truck just broke your windshield. They are supposed to tarp the load. This is most likely how it happened in the first place. Your insurance company will most likely ask you for a police report anyway.

Why do you have to pick on the trucks. I drive one for a living, and for your information, SUV's throw more rocks than trucks. Every time I have had a stone chip, in my windshield, it was because of an SUV or a pickup. Usually, for a glass repair, the insurance company does NOT require an accident/ police report. I have offered to give the insurance company the licence plate numbers of the offending vehicles, but every time they tell me that they do not need that info. To blame a gravel truck, when they are not at fault is FRAUD. Furthermore, Cammercial vehicles (Large trucks, and busses) are subject to inspection, by the state police motor carrier division (DOT). And are required by law to be inspected by a mechanic, once a year. Also the driver is required to do a pre-trip inspection of the vehicle before he/she gets on the road every day. How many SUV/ pickup owners do that, and how many pickup's do you see that have had a suspension/frame lift, and don't have larger mud flaps to cover wheels properly. Enough said.

I got my Rio Cinco in 2002 (it's a 2002) and the windshield cracked 2 months after I bought it. The crack started underneath where the wiper sits and nothing hit the glass.

I took it to the dealer and they said they ran it thru Kia and Kia was the one that refused to pay for the replacement saying it was not their responsibility.

Good luck!

Check with your insurance company because If you have full cover on your Kia Rio,most of the companies has a "hidden" polizy rules that nobody knows or they don't tell that covers the full replacement of both front or rear windshields at no cost for you, yes,It is FREE,that happened to me last year after the three big hurricanes hit FL where I live and my rear windshield cracked in hundreds of pieces when hit by a small fluying stone and my insurance company which is STATE FARM payed the $350 bill to a local glass company who replaced it,and I had to pay absolutely nothing, follow my advice, ask for it to your company, good luck.
