Aye guys i changed my muffler on my car hoping to get a deep rich sound but not too loud , i bought a "pilot pm523" muffler and damn this thing is loud -i can hardly hear my music and i aint even put the k&n air filter yet(its a much bigger than stock filter)--is there any way u guys know of quieting this beast????

Nah, seriously, if you got a canister style muffler, it's going to be loud. You may want to consider changing mufflers Magnaflow makes a good muffler for what you're thinking of. Did you keep stock exhaust piping? Did you remove the resonator, etc?

I have a Number#1One Exhaust (Tanabe style) on my car minus resonator. It's a branch of NOPI. It has a deep sound, but it's not really loud. I can hear my music just fine and at highway speeds it doesn't make my ears want to fall off like some friends exhaust systems do. Fairly cheap too.

i just got the muffler!!!...its gettin me deff----i just hope i'll b able to hear after i put this new air filter on....wats that resonator thing u talk about......wat i gotta do with it

First off, which exhaust did you get?? If it's making you deaf already you don't want to mess with the ressonator. It's part of your piping behind the muffler. It helps mask the noise coming from your exhaust. I took mine out for better flow. Made it a little louder, but I could care less. Like I said, it's not deafening so I'm good.

taking it out for better flow is a joke. It only affects flow by less than 1-2cfm.....which is not going to affect your power output. All major performance exhausts use resonators. The mugen uses two. Now then, that said, I can also say that not having a resonator will make you deaf and make your car sound even more like a rice burner than it will anyway

Honestly taking out the resonator did not by any means make my exhaust note deafening nor does it give it that wonderfull high pitched ricer sound.

I gotta agree with 92lx. maybe you have a quiet muffler or something so that helps but resonators play a huge part in quieting the exhaust and removing them will not give you any gains and in my experience will make it a lot louder.

Honestly...change the muffler....I have 2.5 inch piping no cat, no resinator into a 5zigen fireball... I have no issues pullin up next to police cars.
