Angry Foggy passenger windows

I live in Canada, its starting to get colder up here, and every morning on the way to school, my rear passenger windows get fogged totally, I cant even check my blind spot. Its getting pretty hazardous. What is this cause by? Its definately not normal...(I know the heat inside the car, and the cold outside are the cause, but, it shouldnt be fogging....?Any ideas?

Re: Foggy passenger windows

Check for water in the trunk. It might possibly be leaking tail lights.

Should I expect alot of water in the trunk? Cause now that I had a closer look, my right rear tail light has a little crack in it. I dont know if a small crack would do it, its about, 3/4 of an inch long.
Theres no noticeable amount of water in the trunck though.

Re: Foggy passenger windows

I've saw one Neon that had so much water in the trunk that it got under the rear seat, but that was an extreme case where the driver either didn't know or didn't care (probably for years). Other than that, the most I've ever seen in a trunk is about .25-.50", but most often the water is so light it looks like the walls of the trunk are sweating. You need to look under the carpet to see this of course. The water will invariably be in the tire well, under the spare tire.

I doubt that a cracked tail light like you described would leak water into the trunk. It would most likely fill the tail light itself first. You'd know it if the light was filled with water...

Your getting good advise, and I to am frezzing up in Canada. Just by chance, make sure your floor mats are not caked with snow or ice. Trust me, if you don't keep them clean and dry your car will always fog up

Re: Foggy passenger windows

Remove the tail lights, put a bead of silicone sealant on the light seal, let dry to "tacky", and replace. Fixed forever.

Oh yeah, make sure your trunk is dry once you get the leak fixed.

After some testing, it seems the tail lights are my problem as well. Unfortunately I have a tendency to break things that are not metal. could you offer some quick instructions for removing the tail light assembly?

I seem a couple hex-sided knob-looking-things and a couple clips.

Any help would be appreciated.
